TST sells three moped-style e-bikes that look almost the same in photos: the R002, the R7 and the R9. All three have a 1500W motor, 90 N·m of torque, 20 x 4 inch fat tires, full suspension, a 7-speed drivetrain and a listed top speed of 32 mph. So what does the extra $50 or $100 actually buy you? We read TST's own product pages, its model comparison page and its return policy on November 2, 2026 to answer TST R002 vs R7 vs R9 in plain terms.
Below: the quick answer, a side-by-side table, what makes each bike different, what a return now costs, and whether to wait for Black Friday.
The quick answer
- Prices on tstebike.com (Nov 2, 2026): the R002 is $799 (listed at $2,199) for the black Cruiser version, the R7 is $849 (listed at $1,799) and the R9 is $899 (listed at $1,399) with one battery.
- Choose the R002 if you ride alone and want the lightest bike (71.87 lb) and the cheapest way into a TST. The $799 price is only for the black Cruiser with a 15Ah battery; white or orange is $899, and the 25Ah Adventure version starts at $1,099.
- Choose the R7 if you want to carry a passenger or cargo. It ships with two seats and rear foot pegs, and it is the only one of the three with hydraulic disc brakes on the spec sheet. It is also the heaviest single-battery bike at 82.67 lb.
- Choose the R9 if range matters most. It is the only one that takes a second battery: $899 for one (up to 65 miles) or $1,199 for two (up to 130 miles), at 87.74 to 96.56 lb.
- Before you order: the summary table in TST's return policy now charges a 30% restocking fee on change-of-mind returns made 15 to 30 days after delivery, and a bike that has been ridden can't be returned just because you changed your mind. Older text on the same page says otherwise, so get the terms in writing.
TST R002 vs R7 vs R9 side by side
Spec | R002 | R7 | R9 |
|---|---|---|---|
Price (Nov 2) | $799 | $849 | $899 / $1,199 dual |
Listed price | $2,199 | $1,799 | $1,399 / $1,699 |
Battery | 48V 15Ah or 25Ah | 48V 15Ah | 48V 15Ah or 30Ah (dual) |
Range (TST's claim) | 65 to 100 mi | 65 mi | 65 to 130 mi |
Weight | 71.87 lb | 82.67 lb | 87.74 to 96.56 lb |
Brakes | 180mm mechanical disc | 180mm hydraulic disc | 180mm mechanical disc |
Charge time | 4 to 5 hours | 5 to 6 hours | 5 to 6 hours |
Seats | 1 | 2, plus foot pegs | 1 |
All three list a 450 lb maximum load, a 1500W motor, 90 N·m of torque and 32 mph. TST's comparison page lists IPX5 water resistance for the R002 and R7. Range figures are TST's own claims with pedal assist; a heavy rider on throttle only will see far less. One R7 owner review on TST's own page mentions about 25 miles per charge for a heavier rider.
TST R002: the cheapest way in, if you pick the right version
The R002 is TST's best-known model and the one people search for most. At $799 it is the cheapest of the three, but read the variant list carefully:
- Cruiser, black, 15Ah: $799
- Cruiser, white or orange: $899
- Adventure, 25Ah, black: $1,099 (white and orange Adventure were sold out when we checked)
So the headline price only applies to one color and the smaller battery. The R002 is also the lightest at 71.87 lb, which matters if you have to lift it onto a rack or carry it up a step. TST lists a recommended rider height of 5'2" to 6'4" on its comparison page. The brakes are 180mm mechanical discs.

TST R7: the one built for two
The R7 is the family and errand version. The box includes two seats and two rear foot pegs, and TST says the rear seat can be swapped for a cargo rack. The Cargo Edition is $949, $100 more, and TST's FAQ says that $100 upgrades you to a $269 aluminum rear storage box. If you would buy the box anyway, the Cargo Edition is the better value.
The R7 is also the only one of the three with hydraulic disc brakes in TST's spec table, which is a real advantage when you carry a second person. The trade-offs: one battery size only (15Ah, up to 65 miles claimed), 82.67 lb, and a 5 to 6 hour charge.
TST R9: the long-range pick
The R9 is the only TST moped-style bike that can run two batteries. With one it costs $899; with both it costs $1,199 and TST claims up to 130 miles. That's the cheapest way in TST's lineup to get serious range, but it's also the heaviest at up to 96.56 lb with both batteries. The R9 product page says you can switch between Class 2 and Class 3 limits in the TST app or unlock 32 mph for off-road riding. Check your local rules: 32 mph is above the 28 mph Class 3 limit used in most U.S. states.
The R9's product description also promises a free Handlebar Bag, Phone Holder and Bike Lock Set ($219 value), and all three product pages show a free $178 Front Light and Fender Set.
Is there a TST promo code?
We didn't find a public promo code on TST's own site on November 2, 2026. The discount is built into the sale prices above. The other way TST lowers the price is its Combo Sale: two R002 Cruisers in black are $1,398 ($699 each), two R7s are $1,598, two R9s are $1,698, and an R002 plus R7 pair starts at $1,548. If two people in your home want one, that beats any code we've seen. We list every TST offer we can confirm on the TST e-bike coupons page.
What a return costs now
TST's refund policy, read on November 2, 2026, splits returns like this:
- Brand-new, unused bike, within 14 days of delivery: full refund, but you pay return freight.
- Brand-new, unused, 15 to 30 days after delivery: refund minus a 30% restocking fee, plus return freight.
- Ridden bike, change of mind: not eligible for return.
- Quality problem within 14 days (bike complete, under 10 miles): free replacement or full refund, with TST paying freight.
Shipping a 70 to 97 lb e-bike back is expensive, so treat any of these three as a bike you plan to keep. If returns matter to you, compare TST with other brands in our e-bike and scooter return policy guide. TST contradicts itself here. Further down the same refund page, older text still says unused returns after 14 days carry a 20% fee and used bikes under 10 miles can be returned within 30 days for up to a 35% fee. The warranty table on that page lists 1 year on the frame and 6 months on the battery and electronics, while TST's separate warranty page says "up to 2 year" coverage and 1 year on the battery. Before you buy, ask TST to confirm in writing which return and warranty terms apply to your order.
Buy now or wait for Black Friday?
Black Friday 2026 is November 27. TST hasn't posted Black Friday prices for these models on its own site as of November 2, and the R002's $799 is already 64% below its listed price. If the black Cruiser or the R9 dual-battery version is what you want and it's in stock, today's price is already deep. If you're flexible, watch our Black Friday deals page, where we add new prices as stores publish them.
