Buying an e-bike online during Black Friday is mostly about the price on the banner. But a big, heavy bike is expensive to ship back, and every direct-to-consumer brand handles that cost differently. Before you check out, the e-bike return policy can matter as much as the discount: on some stores a change-of-mind return costs nothing, on others it can eat several hundred dollars of a sale price.
We read the refund and return pages of seven brands we cover: Mokwheel, Happyrun, TST E-bike, Hoverfly, NIU, INMOTION and Gyroor. We read each store's own policy pages on October 23 and 24, 2026. Policies change, so treat this as a snapshot and confirm on the store's site before you pay.
The quick answer
- Most forgiving: NIU. Its return page gives you 30 days, says it covers return shipping on change-of-mind returns with 10 miles or less on the odometer, and lists no restocking fee. Other NIU pages say the buyer pays return shipping, so confirm with support first.
- Longest window for mobility scooters and e-bikes: Hoverfly, 30 days from delivery, but you pay a fixed return shipping fee that runs from $75 to $550 depending on the product.
- Shortest windows: Happyrun and TST E-bike, 14 days. Both charge extra if the bike has been ridden.
- Biggest catch: Gyroor says sale items can't be refunded at all, and almost everything there is on sale right now.

Happyrun sells budget-friendly fat-tire e-bikes, cargo e-bikes and electric dirt bikes direct from California, with free shipping to the U.S. and Canada, 0% APR financing and two-bike combo bundles.

NIU's US online store sells KQi electric kick scooters and BQi e-bikes with free shipping to the lower 48 states, a 30-day return window and a 2-year warranty on the main body. As of November 1, 2026, scooters start at $199 and e-bikes at $799.
E-bike return policy comparison: 7 stores side by side

|---|---|---|---|---|

Happyrun | 14 days from receipt | $150 per bike | 4.5% processing fee | Up to 20 miles, plus a 20% restocking fee |
TST E-bike | 14 days from receipt | Buyer pays (amount not listed) | 15% handling fee on non-quality returns | Under 30 miles within 30 days, up to 35% fee |
Hoverfly | 30 days from delivery | $75 to $550 by product | None listed | Accessories and parts are final sale |
NIU | 30 days | Covered by NIU if 10 miles or less (per its return page) | None listed | Over 10 miles: no change-of-mind return |

Gyroor | 30 days | Buyer pays | Shipping deducted from refund | Sale items not refundable |
What does a change-of-mind return actually cost?
On a $1,000 bike that you return unused because you changed your mind, the stores' own numbers work out roughly like this:
- Mokwheel: $150 shipping plus 5% ($50), so about $200. The policy also mentions a separate card processing deduction.
- Happyrun: $150 plus 4.5% ($45), about $195. If you rode it, add a 20% restocking fee, about $350 in total.
- TST E-bike: a 15% handling fee ($150) plus whatever the return freight costs you, so $150 or more.
- Hoverfly: a flat $140 for an e-bike, $75 for a standing scooter, $90 for a seated scooter, $150 for the T3 or T4 mobility scooter, $250 for the T5 and $550 for the ET1 trike.
- NIU: potentially $0 if you stay under 10 miles and return within 30 days, according to its return page.
The $1,000 price is only an example to make the math easy. On a $1,479 Happyrun G70 Pro, a ridden return costs roughly $446. A 64% Black Friday discount looks very different once you know a return can wipe out a third of what you saved.
Which e-bike return policies have conflicting wording?
Several stores say different things on different pages. We list both versions so you can ask the store before you buy:
- Mokwheel says returns must be made within 15 days "of purchase" in one sentence and within 15 days of receiving the product in another. If your bike takes a week to arrive, that difference matters.
- TST E-bike uses "of receipt" on its refund page and "of purchase" in another place, and its 15% handling fee sits next to a line about "no restocking fee". Ask which rule applies to your order.
- NIU's return page says it pays return shipping on qualifying change-of-mind returns, while its FAQ and shorter refund policy say the buyer pays.
- INMOTION has two return pages. The longer one deducts a 10% restocking fee and the original shipping and makes accessories final sale; the shorter one mentions neither.
When pages disagree, get the answer in writing by email and keep it with your order confirmation.
Holiday gifts: who extends the return window?
Of the seven stores, only Happyrun publishes a holiday extension: orders placed from November 21 to December 24 can be returned until January 6. That makes Happyrun's short 14-day window much less of a problem for a Christmas gift, as long as you order after November 21.
The others don't mention an extension on their policy pages. If you buy a gift on Black Friday, the clock usually starts at delivery (or at purchase, depending on the wording), so a bike bought in late November may be past its return window by Christmas morning. Our Black Friday e-bike and scooter deals roundup lists which of these stores have sales live now.
Damage claims: report fast
Return windows are generous compared with damage-claim windows. Check the box the day it arrives and take photos or video before you unpack:
- TST E-bike: 3 days from receipt.
- Mokwheel: 7 days.
- INMOTION: 7 days.
- Happyrun: 14 days.
- Gyroor: its warranty page says to refuse a visibly damaged delivery and contact the store right away.
Several stores also charge if you refuse or miss a delivery: Mokwheel, Happyrun and TST each list up to $150 per bike to re-ship. Most e-bike deliveries need a signature, so plan to be home.
Checklist before you check out
- Find the return page and the shipping page, not just the banner. Note the window, who pays return shipping and any percentage fee.
- Do the return math on your cart total. A fixed $150 matters more on a $599 bike than on a $2,000 one.
- Don't ride far until you're sure. Mileage limits run from 10 miles (Mokwheel, NIU) to 30 miles (TST).
- Keep the original box for at least 30 days. Most stores require original packaging.
- Check sale-item rules. Gyroor excludes sale items from refunds, and Hoverfly makes accessories final sale.
- Ask about conflicting wording by email and save the reply.
