A moped style ebike gives you the long bench seat, fat tires and motorcycle look for the price of a regular e-bike. The strike-through prices on these bikes are huge, though, and the speed claims, return fees and Black Friday plans differ a lot from brand to brand.
We checked prices on the stores' own sites on October 29, 2026 for every model that TST E-bike, ENGWE and Happyrun list as moped-style, and read each store's shipping and refund policies. On November 1, 2026 we re-checked every price below on the same pages: none had changed. We also re-read TST's refund policy, which TST has rewritten. Below: the quick answer, a price table, what each bike really gets you, the fine print, and whether to buy now or wait for Black Friday.
The quick answer
- Cheapest moped style ebike: the TST R002 at $799 (listed at $2,199). That price is for the black Cruiser version with the 15Ah battery; white and orange are $899.
- Best for carrying a passenger or cargo: the TST R7 at $849 (was $1,799) or the R9 at $899 (was $1,399). TST lists a 450 lb max load for both.
- Biggest battery under $1,000: the ENGWE M20 2.0 at $999 (was $1,499) uses a 52V 15.6Ah pack, and a dual-battery version is $1,199.
- Most powerful: the ENGWE M20 3.0 at $1,399 (was $1,599), with a 3300W peak motor. It's the only model here that's already in a store's Black Friday collection.
- UL-certified pick: the Happyrun Tank G60 Pro at $1,099 (was $1,899), listed with UL 2849 certification for its electrical system.
- Before you pay: returns cost real money. Sending back an unused bike costs return freight at TST (plus a 30% fee after day 14), $200 at ENGWE and about $199 at Happyrun. At TST, a bike you've ridden can't be returned for change of mind at all.

Happyrun sells budget-friendly fat-tire e-bikes, cargo e-bikes and electric dirt bikes direct from California, with free shipping to the U.S. and Canada, 0% APR financing and two-bike combo bundles.

Which moped-style e-bike is the best deal under $1,000?
On price alone, the TST R002 at $799 is the cheapest moped-style bike we found, and its $1,400 markdown (64%) is the deepest. Four of the six bikes come in under $1,000, all from TST and ENGWE.
TST E-bike: R002, R7 and R9
TST's whole R-series is built around a long seat, 20 x 4-inch fat tires, full suspension and a 1500W peak motor. TST lists a 32 mph top speed for all three.
- R002: $799 for the black Cruiser (15Ah, up to 65 miles). The Adventure version with a 25Ah battery, rated up to 100 miles, is $1,099 (was $2,399). The product page says the bike arrives about 70% pre-assembled and offers a free light and fender set for a limited time.
- R7: $849 for the Standard version and $949 for the Cargo Edition (was $2,099). It has hydraulic disc brakes, a 450 lb max load and weighs 82.67 lb.
- R9: $899 with one battery (65 miles) or $1,199 with two (130 miles). The listing adds a free handlebar bag, phone holder and lock set, which TST values at $219.
If you want two bikes, TST's R002 Combo starts at $1,398 for a black pair, $200 less than two singles at $799. Southern California buyers can pick up from TST's warehouse in Ontario, CA. More on current offers on our TST E-bike coupon page.
ENGWE: M20 2.0 and M20 3.0
ENGWE has its own "Moped-Styled Ebikes" menu with three models. The original M20 is sold out, which leaves two:
- M20 2.0: $999 with one 52V 15.6Ah battery or $1,199 with two. ENGWE lists a 750W motor (1200W peak), full suspension, hydraulic disc brakes and a 28 mph max speed in pedal-assist mode. It weighs 88.6 lb with one battery.
- M20 3.0: $1,399 with one 60V 20Ah battery or $1,699 with two (was $1,999). It has a 3300W peak motor and a 40 mph top speed, weighs 102 lb and carries up to 330 lb.

Happyrun: Tank G60 Pro
Happyrun names one bike moped-style in its own listing: the Tank G60 Pro at $1,099 (was $1,899), or $2,098 for two. The spec table lists a 750W motor, a 48V 18.2Ah battery, 70+ miles of range, hydraulic brakes, a 330 lb max load and a 93 lb bike weight. The listing also advertises a free gift bundle; Happyrun ships those gifts only within the continental U.S. Happyrun's FAQ says assembly takes about 45 minutes.
Happyrun's cheaper $599 Tank G60 is sold as an "electric dirt bike", so we left it out here. We compared it in our cheap fat tire e-bike comparison. Mokwheel, Freego and Hoverfly don't list any moped-style model on their own sites right now.
How fast is a moped style ebike, and is it street legal?
The speeds listed above go well past the usual e-bike limits. Under the three-class system most U.S. states use, a Class 2 bike's throttle stops helping at 20 mph and a Class 3 bike's pedal assist stops at 28 mph. Here's what the stores themselves say:
- TST R9: the TST app lets you switch between Class 2 and Class 3 limits, or unlock 32 mph "for off-road riding".
- ENGWE M20 3.0: the factory default top speed is 20 mph, and the 40 mph setting is an off-road mode.
- Happyrun G60 Pro: 20 mph in the spec table.
If you'll ride on streets or bike paths, keep the bike at the limit your state allows. Check your local rules before you unlock a higher speed.
The catch: fine print before you buy
What does a return cost?
All three stores charge for change-of-mind returns:
- TST (R002 at $799): TST rewrote its refund policy (we read the new version on November 1, 2026). A brand-new, unused bike gets a 100% refund within 14 days of delivery, or a refund minus a 30% restocking fee (about $240) from day 15 to day 30. You pay return freight either way, and TST doesn't price it in advance. A bike that has been ridden can't be returned for change of mind. Older text lower on the same page still lists a 20% fee and up to 35% for used bikes, so get TST's answer in writing.
- ENGWE (M20 2.0 at $999): 30 days, the longest window here. ENGWE deducts $200 per e-bike for a non-quality return, and the bike must show under 10 kilometers (about 6 miles) on the display.
- Happyrun (G60 Pro at $1,099): 14 days. Unused: $150 plus a 4.5% processing fee, about $199. Ridden (up to 20 miles): $150 plus a 20% restocking fee, about $370.
We compared return rules across more stores in our e-bike return policy guide.
Shipping, damage claims and assembly
- Shipping: TST ships free to the lower 48 states (no Alaska or Hawaii) in 3 to 5 business days. Happyrun ships free to the 48 contiguous states and Canada, with an adult signature required. ENGWE lists free U.S. shipping, 7 to 10 days, on "qualified orders".
- Refused deliveries and cancellations: TST lets you cancel free before a tracking number is issued, but not after the bike ships; you have to accept it and use the return process. ENGWE charges $200 for a refused delivery, and Happyrun charges $150 to reship an adult e-bike.
- Damage claims: report problems within 3 days at TST and 14 days at Happyrun. ENGWE asks you to contact it right away.
- Weight: these bikes run 82 to 102 lb. Plan for stairs and storage.
Should you buy now or wait for Black Friday?
Black Friday is November 27, 2026 and Cyber Monday is November 30. Here's what each store has announced as of November 1:
- ENGWE already runs a "Black Friday Electric Bike Sale" collection. The M20 3.0 is in it at $1,399; the M20 2.0 isn't. ENGWE's refund policy offers a partial refund of a price difference only if you claim it within 7 days, so it won't cover a drop weeks later.
- TST hasn't announced Black Friday. Its October "Wicked Big Deals" banner was still up on November 1 with no end date, and the R002 was still $799 against $2,199, already 64% off.
- Happyrun hasn't announced Black Friday plans either. On November 1 its site still showed the old Halloween Sale banner offering an extra $200 off combos, so check that the $200 actually comes off in your cart. Orders placed November 21 to December 24 can be returned until January 6, which makes late November the safer time to buy a gift.

Checklist before you check out
- Pick the variant on purpose. The headline price is usually the smallest battery, and sometimes only one color.
- Do the combo math. Compare a two-bike combo with two single bikes in your cart.
- Be home for delivery and film the unboxing, since damage claims can close in 3 days.
- Confirm the speed setting you'll ride with is legal where you live.
