Electric Scooter Under $500: 13 Adult Models Compared

Looking for an electric scooter under $500 before Black Friday? You don't have to wait for Amazon. Five brands we cover already sell adult scooters below that line on their own U.S. stores, and several are marked down 30% to nearly 60% right now. The catch is that a cheap scooter can become an expensive one if you need to send it back, so we put the prices and the return rules side by side.

We first read every price below on each brand's official store on October 26, 2026, and re-checked all of them on November 1, 2026: iSinwheel, Gyroor, INMOTION, NIU and Hoverfly. Specs are the brands' own listed numbers, not our measurements. We haven't ridden these scooters, so there are no scores here, only the facts that help you choose.

The quick answer

• Cheapest adult scooter: NIU KQi1 Pro at $199 (regularly $349). It's light (35.7 lbs) but small: 14.3 miles of listed range, a 198 lb rider limit and solid tires.
• Most listed range under $500: iSinwheel S Nova Pro at $479.99 (regularly $599.99), listed at 38 miles and 28 mph with 10-inch air tires and dual suspension.
• Lightest to carry: Hoverfly X1 at $249.99 (31.55 lbs) or INMOTION Air at $249 (34.5 lbs, regularly $599, down from $399 on October 26).
• For heavier riders: iSinwheel GT1, the only model here listed for riders up to 330 lbs. It went from $499.99 to $519.99 on November 1, so it's now just over $500. iSinwheel says GT1 flash deals are coming between November 14 and 26.
• Biggest markdown: INMOTION Air at $249 (listed at $599, 58% off). Gyroor's X2 at $339.99 (listed at $699.99) is close behind, but Gyroor's refund policy says sale items can't be refunded.
• Easiest return: NIU, with 30 days and free shipping to the lower 48 states.

NIU's US online store sells KQi electric kick scooters and BQi e-bikes with free shipping to the lower 48 states, a 30-day return window and a 2-year warranty on the main body. As of November 1, 2026, scooters start at $199 and e-bikes at $799.

Electric scooters under $500, compared

Since October 26, the INMOTION Air dropped from $399 to $249 and the C10 from $499 to $449, while the iSinwheel GT1 rose from $499.99 to $519.99. The other ten prices were unchanged on November 1. Listed range is measured by each brand under ideal conditions. Expect less with a heavier rider, hills or cold weather. A few listings disagree with themselves: Hoverfly's GXL Max spec table says 8.5-inch air tires while its description says 10-inch solid tires, and Gyroor's X3 page says 700W while the site menu says 900W peak. Ask the store before you buy if that detail matters to you.

What it costs to return a scooter under $500

Return rules differ far more than prices do. On a $400 scooter, the gap between the best and worst policy here is well over $100.

• NIU: 30 days. Its return policy page says NIU pays return shipping on change-of-mind returns with 10 miles or less on the odometer, but its FAQ says the buyer pays, so confirm with support first.
• Hoverfly: 30 days from delivery, with a fixed $75 return shipping fee for a standing e-scooter. On the $249.99 X1, that's 30% of the price.
• INMOTION: 15 days, and only for unopened boxes. Its two return pages disagree on whether a 10% restocking fee applies.
• iSinwheel: 14 days from delivery. An unopened return costs up to 15% of the price, an opened one 20%, and 30% after more than 10 miles, plus return shipping. On the $479.99 S Nova Pro, that's about $72 unopened or $96 opened before shipping.
• Gyroor: 30 days, but the refund policy says only regular-priced items can be refunded. Nearly every scooter on the site is on sale, so treat a Gyroor purchase as final unless support tells you otherwise in writing.

Which scooter fits which rider?

Short trips and a tight budget. The NIU KQi1 Pro at $199 and Hoverfly X1 at $249.99 are among the cheapest, and the INMOTION Air now sits right between them at $249 with a higher listed top speed (19 mph). Both top out at 15.5 mph, and both use solid or airless tires, which never go flat but ride harsher on rough pavement. Check the rider limit: 198 lbs on the NIU and 220 lbs on the Hoverfly.

Carrying it up stairs or onto a train. Weight matters more than range. The Hoverfly X1 (31.55 lbs), GXL Max (32 lbs) and INMOTION Air (34.5 lbs) are the lightest in the group. The iSinwheel S Nova Pro and INMOTION C10 weigh about 60 lbs or more.

Longer commutes. The iSinwheel S Nova Pro has the most listed range at 38 miles and the only dual suspension in this price band. INMOTION's C10 has two motors, which may help on hills, at $449.

Heavier riders. Most models here are rated for 264 or 265 lbs. The iSinwheel GT1 is listed at 330 lbs, but at $519.99 on November 1 it's slightly over budget unless a flash deal brings it back down.

Want a seat? Gyroor's C1 family (from $299.99 on one listing, C1Pro $449.99) comes with a seat and basket. These ride more like a small moped than a kick scooter, so we left them out of the table.

Buy now or wait for Black Friday?

Halloween is over, and when we re-checked on November 1, 2026, the five stores were at different stages:

• iSinwheel is the only one with published Black Friday dates: Early Bird deals from October 30 to November 13 (3 free accessories with eligible combos, plus bonus points), rotating flash deals on the GT1, H7, S NOVA, GT4 and Monster series from November 14 to 26, and Black Friday deals from November 27 to 30. If you want an S Nova or GT1, the flash-deal window is worth watching.
• INMOTION has switched its banner to "Black Friday, up to $1,100 off," and the Air and C10 are already cheaper than on October 26.
• Hoverfly has an Early Black Friday Sale page that says its prices will stay the same through Black Friday. On November 1 that page listed its T5, ET1 and Z6 models, not the scooters in our table.
• Gyroor was still showing its Halloween Sale banner (up to 54% off) the day after Halloween, with no Black Friday page yet.
• NIU had no Black Friday page; its banner says scooters start at $199 with savings of up to $800.

Some prices may drop again in late November, but several models are already 30% to nearly 60% below their listed regular price.

If you buy now, iSinwheel's refund policy says you can ask for the price difference within 30 days, and its sale page advertises "Black Friday Price Protection," so keep your order number and check again on Black Friday. The other four stores don't promise a price adjustment on their policy pages.

For gifts, watch shipping cutoffs. Hoverfly's shipping policy says orders placed on or after December 17 aren't guaranteed to arrive for the holidays.

Checklist before you pay

1. Match the rider limit to the real rider, with a backpack.
2. Halve the listed range if you're heavier, live somewhere hilly or ride in winter.
3. Read the return fee in dollars, not percent, before you check out.
4. Check shipping. Gyroor ships free over $90, INMOTION over $100, and NIU ships free to the lower 48 states.
5. Keep the box for at least 30 days. Most stores require original packaging for a return.
